Help!!  I think I just saw a ghost!!!

I'm watching fashion police and I'm MORTIFIED by all of these A list stars w/ severe flashback in their pictures!! Their bodies are a gorgeous bronze and then their faces are ghost white. Hello makeup your job and protect your clients from this!!!

Lesson Learned? If you know you're going to be in pictures, STAY AWAY from glitter, shimmer, and mineral foundations and powders as your base. Use these tools as an accent to your look.

I hate to push for higher priced products but they do a good job of using more pure products. Also make sure your foundation is good for what you're dressed for. Titanium dioxide is used in products that have SPF protection; SO important for your day time wear but at night its not necessary (especially if you're going to be taking a lot of pics of your night out on the town). Titanium dioxide does an excellent job of reflecting the sun away from your face. When a bright flash hits your face your makeup will do its job and reflect that light off of your beautiful face and BAM, you look like you're from a parallel universe. So how do you fix this? Use the base trilogy: Primer, Foundation, Setting Powder. Find a high quality primer (I love smash box) a high quality foundation (I love MAC studio fix) and a high quality setting powder (I LOVE LOVE LOVE NYX HD grinding powder).

Ladies, most of us are always looking at the price tag but what good is it doing you if you look like a ghost in all of your pictures? You're better of skipping the foundation (and you know what? if you've got fabulous skin the maybe this isn't such a bad idea!)

I'm kind of a rogue in the makeup artist community, I push for the idea that less is more. You're filling your pores w/ all of that makeup which in turn leads to more products to cover fill and decrease the lines on your face...from all the makeup you've used.

Be kind to your faces ladies!!

ITS HERE!!! Fall, the most wonderful time of the year :)

Alright girls, I have some super exciting events coming up in October for Brides and Fashionistas!!

The first event of the month I’m spotlighting is Sip and Shop with  This event will be held at Aloft Dallas starting at 6 pm on October 6, 2010.

Some of the hottest and newest designers are showcasing one of a kind pieces that move VERY quickly.  This is a nationally run event and take it from me, you do not want to miss this. Items will include handcrafted jewelry and accessories and one of a kind Fall Fashion Pieces.  There are a video clip on the website for you to get an idea of what to expect at the event.

I will be at the Sip and Shop even this Wendesday and will giving demonstrations and complimentary makeovers on a first come first serve basis.   Airbrush foundation application will also be presented at this event.

The event will have complimentary parking and appetizers and drink specials start at $5.  This will be a great change of pace for your usual happy hour or girls night.

I can’t wait to meet some new faces and see some old friends at this event.  Please call  713-882-4017 for any questions!!!

Now lets talk makeup!!  This year’s trending color is purple and I’m LOVING it.  Its one of the few colors that blends beautifully with every skin tone and eye color.  In fact this color pallet gives a fantastic spin on the “Smokey Eye” look.  Instead of using black, opt for a deep shade of eggplant.   I almost always reach for my darker purples when blending at the crease line.  It also ads a pop when purple shadows are used as a liner on the bottom lash line.  As many of you already know, this color is a BEAUTIFUL match for blue eyes.   While there are purple eye liners and mascara’s for a classic look stick to your darker  shades of brown and black liners to give a contrast to the color on your lids.

We're getting into a very dry and cold part of the year.  Please don't forget to be good to your skin and moisturize moisturize moisturize.  We often forget to keep the SPF routine up in the colder months but keep doing it!!!  The air may be colder but the sun is still beaming its damaging rays.  Thanks for reading ladies, have a wonderful day!

A true collaboration

Today I had was a part of something so special. I got to collaborate with Lisa Michelle Photography and Miss Amy Pittsinger. The reason this was so special is Amy has always been behind the camera and this time she wanted to be on the other end. She got married earlier this year and never got her bridal portraits completed. So she picked Lisa and myself to be her vendors (me doing the make-up of course).

Lisa is incredible, she's so patient and just so sweet; it was just so much fun to watch her toy around with the camera and come up with these incredible results. I tagged along for the photoshoot and held up the external flash and was an extra set of hands. SO much fun!!

The best part was watching Amy and Lisa bounce idea's off of one another and learning things from the both of them as the night continued.

The look we decided to go with was a classic beauty. Her jewelery was all handed down from her Grandmother and Lisa was able to get her hands on a couple super sexy hair pieces/ bird cages. We had so much fun coming up with all these different looks.

On her eyes we used a thick black liner and a soft pallet for the shadow. The cheeks were really light and rosy and the for the lips we wanted a neutral dewy look. Airbrush foundation was used to cover up her tan lines and give a flawless look for her face.

Take a look at this beauty!!!

Have a great night everyone!!
